I have Office 97 Pro on a Vista machine. I have just been given a full
Office 2003 Pro and will be installing it on the same machine. Is it
advisable to uninstall Office 97? And if yes, should I uninstall 97 before
or after installing Office 2003? Thanks a lot in advance for all
assistance.

The problems with running multiple versions of Office are, AFAIK:
File asociations will be set to whichever version you installed (or
repaired) or depending on the fix, applied a fix to
And e-mail if using Outlook

Compatibility if you do not keep the data files separate by Office
version

Installation of all additional versions MUST be 'custom' specifying a
different location for the versions so that files from the previously
installed version do not get overwriiten by the later installed version.

MS appear to have done a passable job of having different filenames for
files that go into 'common' use locations such as ProgramFiles\Common

You may also have to run Office Update to have the PC update itself to
the latest versions of the MS update engine before the WindowsUdate
facility will include Office in it's purview and include Office fixes in
it's (daily) monthly processing.
